Crashing on: Chrome and Edge on Windows OS with or without antiviruses.
Issue appeared recently, last week of January approximately. Found at least two AWS services where clicking a dropdown control would 100% crash the tab with access violation. There could be more services affected using that dropdown implementation. Tried multiple Windows machines with recent updates by MS and without updates for last three month with same result.
1. S3->Create bucket->General Configuration->Click region dropdown
2. Existing HTTP API Gateway -> Integrations->Manage Integrations -> Create -> Click integration type dropdown
Chrome error message: Error code: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
EDIT: Firefox seems to be fine, Edge is too if rolled back to v87. Sent crash reports to Chromium project as it appears to be engine issue.

It is working fine with firefox. |

I also get this on my current version of Edge. I do not wish to install Firefox. I have a workaround by using a different Windows platform that is at a much earlier Windows build (same Chrome build). So, I think this may be Windows related. I am running a prerelease via Windows Insider Preview on the platform in question. I will refrain from upgrading the Windows system that works until I see a fix for this.

If it helps, running Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit, build 18363
Tested on Chrome, Brave, Firefox, and Edge
This happened a month or two ago but the next day it was fine for whatever reason. |
